I was born and raised on the Oregon coast, and have always had a passion for photography. In 2005, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. I was stationed in Okinawa, JP and Camp Pendleton, CA and deployed to Indonesia in June 2006 and Afghanistan from October 2009 – April 2010.
While in Afghanistan I bought my first dSLR. My role in the platoon was machine gunner and kept the camera with me in the turret during convoys and also photographed daily life as a deployed Marine. In September 2010 I was Honorably Discharged. I am now attending the New York Institute of Photography.
I am inspired by what war photographers are able to show the rest of the world what they have experienced. It is my hope that I am able to show my vision and experiences through the images I capture. I would like to continue what I started with my Afghanistan series and move into the field of documentary and war photography.
